Legal framework
The Doctoral Studies at the Department of Forestry and Environmental Management and Natural Resources at DUTH are organized and operate in accordance with the provisions of Law 4485/2017 (Government Gazette AD114) and the relevant provisions and decisions in force.
Criteria Selection for Doctoral Candidates
Those who meet at least the following criteria have the right to submit an application to work towards a Doctoral Thesis at the Department of Forestry and Environmental and Natural Resources Management of DUTH.
They have a university degree (University or TEI) of the home country or a recognized foreign institution.
They are holders of a Postgraduate Diploma of A.E.I. (University or TEI) of the home country or recognized as a co-educational institution abroad or a unified and inseparable postgraduate degree of article 46 of Law 4485/2017.
Holders of a single and integral postgraduate degree (integrated master) are accepted as PhD candidates on the condition that they attend and are successfully evaluated in a series of courses of the postgraduate master’ degree program of the Department. The relevant courses will be determined by a decision of the General Assembly of the Department.
Duration
The duration for the acquisition of the Doctoral Degree is at least three (3) full calendar years from the date of appointment of the Three-Member Advisory Committee, according to paragraph 2 of article 39 of Law 4485/2017. For PhD candidates who hold a single and integral postgraduate degree (integrated master), the minimum time limit for obtaining a PhD is at least four (4) full calendar years from the date of appointment of the Three-Member Advisory Committee.
The maximum duration of a doctoral dissertation is eight (8) years.
Doctoral Candidate Selection Procedure
The Department of Forestry and Environmental and Natural Resources Management of DUTH accepts applications for PhD candidates in January and June every year.
