Learning Outcomes
Please describe the learning outcomes of the course: Knowledge, skills and abilities acquired after the successful completion of the course.
The course syllabus aims at studying the evolution of management methods over time in Europe, the identification of the key factors that influenced the management methodology and their importance in the current management of forest ecosystems. It also aims to understand current management methods as a result of the evolution of historical methods and the development of science and modern technology.

It analyzes the concept and content of sustainable management of forest ecosystems and the ways of integrating into the management practice all the services (forest functions) that the forest offers to the community.

Finally, the aim of the course is to familiarize students with the contents of the management plan of a Greek forest.

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:

·  He has understood the main factors that led to the diversification of forest management methods and the results brought about by the application of the methods in forest practice.

·  He has understood and appreciated the importance of the stand growth characteristics in the management of wood production.

·  He has experienced the current management methodology and the corresponding technology of collecting, processing, analyzing data and drawing conclusions for forest management.

·  He combines his knowledge and examines the possibilities of handling the forest ecosystem, so that it can offer all its services to the community.

·  It uses the available technology to gather data from the forest ecosystem, process and analyze them and draw conclusions for the rational management of the ecosystem.

·  It is able to draw up parts of the management plan of a forest, using actual forest inventory data.
